Merchandising Ideas
Did you know that while 76% of American households buy magazines, only 24% subscribe to them?
Obviously, consumers are turning to stores for their magazine consumption. To better sell your magazines, adapt some of these suggestions to your retailing practices:
- Keep magazines –especially those with hot-topic covers– near your cash register. Magazines are traditionally considered high-impulse, point-of-purchase sales so you don’t want them hiding in the back of your store.
- Cross-merchandise your magazines. In other words, keep select magazines near a topically related product.
- Include magazines in your window displays. Customers won’t know you carry them unless you show them.
- Magazines make inexpensive gifts. Remind your customers of this by grouping similarly themed titles together and displaying them as a great gift idea.
