Publisher Frequently Asked Questions

How can Ingram Periodicals Inc. expand my magazine title to more retailers?
Your Account Executive can assist you in customizing a marketing package that works best for you. A comparative title analysis can be used to determine potential markets for your title. Ingram also offers a variety of marketing programs to expand your title in specialty markets. These include e-flyers, telemarketing campaigns, sample copy mailings, and catalogs. Contact your Account Executive for details on these programs.

What do I receive for my annual marketing fee?
Your annual marketing fee creates several key opportunities for your title to be promoted to Ingram’s growing retailer base. This includes cover art and a detailed description of your title in the Ingram Independent Retailer Catalog, which is mailed to 3,000 bookstores, libraries, and specialty retailers.

What promotions are available for my upcoming magazine issue?
Ingram offers a variety of chain and independent promotional opportunities throughout the year. These include in-store displays, telemarketing, e-communications, and sample copy mailings. Your Account Executive will work with the Ingram Sales and Marketing Departments to determine the promotion that best matches your goals.

In the independent market, can you tell me how my title will be sold to the retailer through the rack program?
Regional Field and Inside Sales Representatives receive a list of eligible titles each month. The list specifies subject categories and includes relevant regional focus if available. Knowledgeable relationships enable these reps to customize a magazine selection suitable for each store’s unique needs.

Can I get a copy of the e-communication when it's sent?
You will receive an electronic copy of your e-flyer from your Account Executive.

Are you able to track the success of your marketing promotions?
Your Account Executive can provide a draw copy report following a specific marketing promotion. This report will indicate the differential change in the number of accounts and copies distributed.

How will my magazine listing appear in the "detailed description" section in the Independent Retailer Magazine Catalog?
The most current bibliographic and image data available will be used in the catalog. Please send your new title descriptions and images to your Account Representative no later than February 1.
